August 31, 2013..Today we took a detour from our planned route and went to Eagle Butte, SD. We were told at a visitor's center there was a Pow Wow being held this weekend in Eagle Butte. We decided on the spur of the moment to check out the Pow Wow, especially since we had not been to one. We are sure glad we didn't miss it. If you have not been to a Pow Wow and have seen a Grand Entrance, I would recommend going to one if you have the opportunity. It was a spectacular sight. There were 592 dancers in full dress participating. We are spending the night on the reservation beside the arena where the Pow Wow is being held. There are other campers here and it is quite comfortable. It is neat to be here in the camper now preparing for bed while we hear the chants and the drums from the Pow Wow that is still going on. Below are some photos I made.

August 30, 2013..We spent last night in Charles City, Iowa. It was a nice campground and it was so good to have a place where we could be in out of the heat and relax. The temperature was up to 95 during most of our drive yesterday. The photo below is at our campsite in Charles City. Just beyond our campsite was Cedar River.

Today we drove on to Plankinton, South Dakota after a stop in Mitchell, South Dakota where the Corn Palace is located. If you are not familiar with the Corn Palace, the outside is covered with corn. It is pretty hard to believe they made all the decoration and covering with corn. Below is a photo of the Corn Palace. By the way, they change the outside each year. The photo on the left below is one we made last year and the one on the right was made today.
